Currently based in Singapore, Lu Huen is on a constant journey of discovery and self-exploration The search for truths and answers is seen through her images, creating a sense of pervasive tranquillity and quietness. In work of great formal beauty and simplicity, her intimate small-scale photographs document interior journeys and subtle aspects of relationship. These series are reflections that represent her life in Exeter and her personal bearings in both familiar and unfamiliar spaces, whether she's at home or travelling.
Upon her graduation from University of Plymouth, Lu received two Bronze Awards at the Crowbar Awards 2006.
Cubicles is an ongoing series of photos taken in a confined space where one is forced to confront the truth. The stark clean lines blurs the lines of reality and perception, yet it forces one to take a closer, more careful look to decide and find their own truth in each image.
Rooms is a series of photos from the artist's travels. It captures a little personality of each place enhanced with poetic inner thoughts on the moment of stark honesty and discovery.
"... i want to kill my girlfriend." the confession is a personal series that explores the darker side of human nature, echoing a phase in our lives where passions border on obsession, becoming destructive and malevolent in nature.
