I am fascinated by pattern, both in the man made world, such as Islamic geometric mosaic, and in the natural world, such as the Fibonacci sequence.
My work explores order and sequencing both of form and colour.
In my Permutation pieces I explore simple mathematical progressions and employ
the same rationale to my use of colour, producing a highly structured surface across which two colours ‘interplay’ and ‘progress’ tonally.
The main influences on my work are Piet Mondrian, Georges Vantongerloo,
Joseph Albers and Max Bill.
